BlackJack
BlackJack, also known as 21, is a card comparing game between the dealer and the player. The main goal in this game is to get a card point total as close to 21 as possible, without exceeding it. If 21 is exceeded, player losses. Same goes for the dealer, though. We’ll look at the gameplay a little bit later in this article.

BlackJack is played with a standard deck of 52 cards, each of whom features a specific value or point score. Cards are valued as follows:
-
2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,T – their face value, meaning that 5 is worth 5 points and so on.

GamePlay in BlackJack
BlackJack is played with anywhere between 4 and 8 decks of cards. The whole game is separated into several rounds or hands. Each hand starts with the dealer dealing 2 cards to all the players on a card by card basis and 1 to himself. Players are now able to choose between several options:
-
Stay – don’t take any other cards and keep their point score.
-
Hit – take another card to increase their point score.
-
Surender – give up on their hand and get half of the wager back. Some BlackJack types won’t allow players to surrender.
-
Split – if a player has been dealt two cards of the same value, he can split them and play each card as a separate hand.
-
Double Down – double your wager and take another card. Only one card can be taken after doubling.
After all the players are done playing their hands, the dealer takes a card to himself. There are a few specific rules for the dealer:
-
Dealer must draw until he has 17 or more, even if all the players have lower point totals.
-
Some BlackJack types will use the rules that dealer has to hit on soft 17 (an ace and a six, for example)
Once the Dealer has drawn his own hand, payouts are made:
-
If you reach a higher point total than the dealer, you win and payout at even money odds is made.
-
If the dealer reaches a higher point total, he wins and you loose your wager.
Hitting a natural BlackJack
Natural BlackJack is known as a hand of an Ace and a face card – T, J, Q or K. If you hit a natural BlackJack, you are instantly awarded with an increased payout at 3 to 2 odds. However, there are some circumstances under whom you’ll be offered a choice:
- Take an even money payout
- Wait until dealer plays his hand.
These circumstances occur when the dealer holds an ace or a face card, basically when he holds a chance to hit a BlackJack. If he does hit one, hand is considered as a push – you neither win or loose.
